Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. International students can work 24 hours per week during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks (winter, spring, and summer). You must have a valid study permit to work on campus.

The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows graduates from eligible Canadian DLIs to work in Canada for up to 3 years after completing their programme. PGWP holders can then apply for permanent residency through Express Entry.

University tuition ranges from CAD 15,000–40,000/year depending on the city and programme. College diplomas cost CAD 8,000–18,000/year. Total annual cost including living expenses is approximately CAD 25,000–55,000 (INR 15–33 lakh).

Most Canadian universities require IELTS (6.0–7.0), TOEFL (83–100) or PTE Academic (58–65). Under the SDS programme, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 with no band below 6.0 can speed up visa processing.

Standard processing takes 4–12 weeks. Under the Student Direct Stream (SDS), processing can be as fast as 20 business days who meet specific criteria including GIC and IELTS requirements.

Universities offer degree programmes with better research and employment prospects. Colleges offer shorter diploma/certificate programmes at lower cost with faster PGWP eligibility. Your choice depends on budget, career goals and PR plans.
