TOEFL is generally preferred by US universities and is accepted by virtually all American institutions. However, most US universities accept both TOEFL and IELTS. TOEFL is computer-based and uses North American English accents, making it more familiar for US-bound students.

How long is a TOEFL score valid? +

TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years from the test date. After 2 years, institutions may not accept the score. You can view your scores on the ETS website for 10 years after your test date, but most universities require scores within the last 2 years.
